Privacy Policy

ListenPrep ("we", "us") publishes this policy to explain what we collect on this website and in the ListenPrep app, and why. It covers the waitlist form, site analytics, and — now that the app is launching — account, learning, and purchase data collected within the app.
Waitlist data (this website)
When you join the waitlist, we collect the information you submit: your email address, the exam month you tell us (or "Not sure yet"), and, if you choose to share it, whether you use iPhone, Android, or both. We also record the source ("website") and your browser's language setting, so we can send the right-language email later. Waitlist submissions are stored on our own servers, and we do not use a third-party email marketing platform for this data.
App data
Once you use the ListenPrep app, we collect:
- Account information (optional). If you create an account, we collect your email address. You can use the app as a guest without an account.
- Learning activity. Your quiz answers, response times, listening progress through episodes, and any question feedback you submit (for example, reporting a problem with a question).
- Device and app information. Basic technical details like device type, OS version, and app version, used to keep the app working correctly.
- Crash diagnostics. If the app crashes or errors, we collect diagnostic reports through GlitchTip, which we self-host. These reports are configured not to include personal data.
- Purchase status. Once in-app purchases are live, we use RevenueCat to determine your subscription or Exam Pass status. RevenueCat processes purchase receipts from Apple/Google on our behalf; we do not receive your full payment details.
Why we collect it
We use waitlist data only to email you about launch. We use app data to: run and improve the study features (quizzes, spaced repetition, listening progress); diagnose and fix crashes; determine subscription/Exam Pass access; and, if you share it, send you launch-related updates. We do not use this information for advertising, and we do not build profiles beyond what's needed for these purposes.
Who processes your data
We use the following processors:
- Our own servers (self-hosted) — account, learning activity, and waitlist data.
- GlitchTip (self-hosted crash reporting) — crash diagnostics, without personal data.
- RevenueCat — subscription and Exam Pass management, once in-app purchases are enabled.
- Our email provider — sending you account and launch-related emails.
- Plausible — cookie-free website analytics (see below).
Retention and deletion
We keep waitlist information until you unsubscribe, or until 12 months after ListenPrep launches, whichever comes first. We keep your account and learning data for as long as your account exists, and delete it within 30 days of account deletion. We may keep anonymised, aggregated question statistics (for example, "this question is missed 40% of the time") that no longer identify you, even after account deletion.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account and its data at any time, either in the app under Settings → Delete account, or via our account deletion page.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal information by emailing hello@listenprep.com, or by using in-app account deletion.
EU users (GDPR). If you're in the European Economic Area, we process your data based on our contract with you (to provide the Service) and our legitimate interests (to keep it running securely and improve it). You have the rights described above, plus the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
California users (CCPA/CPRA). We do not sell or share your personal information, as those terms are defined under California law.
Children
ListenPrep is not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Security
We encrypt data in transit between your device and our servers.
Analytics
This website uses Plausible, a cookie-free analytics service. Plausible does not use cookies or collect personal data, and does not track you across websites. We use it only to see aggregate visit counts and referrers for this marketing site.
Sharing
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing or advertising purposes. We only share data with the processors listed above, to operate the Service.

Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. We'll update the effective date above, and for material changes, we'll notify you in the app or by email.
